About me
Starting at the the age of 22, I have been actively engaged in international human rights, both academically and during more than 25 years of professional work in various positions at the UN and the OSCE. What drives me is the firm conviction, reinforced by experience, that the integration of human rights standards creates long-term benefits for all stakeholders: for the deciding politicians, the affected people, the acting entrepreneurs, the environment, the climate, the poor and disadvantaged, women, children, the elderly…

- About 25 years of professional experience in various positions in international organisations and academia, including 20 years at the UN and more than 20 years abroad (North, West and Central Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe, at UN headquarters in New York and Geneva).
- Extensive experience in supporting governments, international organisations and civil society in developing strategies, institutions and processes to mitigate risk factors for crises, conflict and instability
- Pragmatic translation of international human rights standards into preventive sustainability strategies for politics, business and society
- Several years of leadership experience, building international and diverse teams on the ground and at a distance, motivating staff by handing over responsibility
- Negotiations of highly sensitive issues at the highest levels of government, advising UN envoys and company CEOs, experienced mediator
- Highly appreciative of people regardless of their views, value systems, behaviour and culture, providing guidance in negotiations as well as being sensitive and, when necessary, very clear in communicating options – highly interculturally adept, fluent in English and French
- At home in situations full of contradictions and unpredictable change; weighing and observing as a basis for clear decisions
